1. In modern day prose fiction become famous,most people call them literature. Even if people don't think literature as prose they may think it is work of fiction.
2. Prose fiction consist of many genres. Usually defined by length. If it single prose fiction narrative and long enough to be a book then it is a novel
3. Narrative is more general than 'novel' or even 'prose fiction'. A narrative is a sequence of events, fictional or non-fictional, told or narrated by the narrator to someone else.
4. Narrator is the person known or unknown who narrates the narrative. The narratee is the person to whom the narrative seems to be directed. And Narratology is the whole business how narrators narrate narratives to narratees.
5. Novellas or can be called as short nivels or long short stories is a category of prose fiction in between : text that can fill whole book but do not seem quite big enough to be in same category as novel and short story.
6. In international context, novel in English, called a roman in French, German, and Danish. And novel come from Latin for something new, novus. It means the categories we use do not come from any infallible authority.
