- Novel
(a fictional narrative that is long enough to be published as a book by itself)
Example : Pride and Prejudice
- Short story
( a fictional narrative that only have a few pages)
Example : Philosophy and the Mirror of Nature
3. The definition of narrative :
a sequence of events, fictional or non-fictional, told or narrated by someone/narrator to someone else.
4. Some keywords in narrative :
- Narrator : The person (known or unknown, name or anonymous) who narrates the narrative
- Audience : The person to whom the narrative is narrated
- Narratee : The person to whom the narrative seems to be directed : producing a narrative, involves creating a reader, involves creating a narrator and characters.
- Narratorology : How narrators narrate the narratives to narratees.
5. The definition of novellas (as known as long short story or short novel):
a text that can fill a whole book but do not seem quite big enough.
Example : The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde
6. The difference thinking between short story and novel :
-The thinking of short story: lead to an emphasis on the relatively simple central point if the narrative
-The thinking of novel : turn the reader's attention to its complex narrative structure, the relatively large number of significant characters, and the extent if which it depicts an elaborate urban setting, even a fictional world.
