- Instract and entertain

- To share a complex experince of life through a certain composition that otherwise would not be effectively communicated

2. English literature vs literature in english

- english literature: only literary works produced in England, can be exclusive even there are many production of literature other than England such as American, Ireland, Scotland, Canadian, Australian 

- Literature in english: is an attempt to be more inclusive, any literary works witten in English
